In-floor cleaning systems are one of the best features a pool can have - but only when every component is actually working. When the popup heads wear out or break, the whole system loses pressure and debris just sits on the floor. That's exactly what we were dealing with here.
We pulled every single popup head out of this pool. You can see the old ones laid out - worn seals, cracked bodies, O-rings that had long since given up. These weren't just slightly degraded. They were done. And when heads fail like this, the system can't rotate properly or push water the way it's supposed to.
Our tech went in the water to pull and replace each head individually, working his way across the entire floor. It's hands-on work. There's no shortcut for doing it right - each head has to seat properly and seal tight or you're right back where you started. We also use quality tools and keep our gear organized on deck so nothing gets missed mid-job.
Once the new heads were installed and seated, the difference was immediate. The entry steps show the new popups flush and clean across every tread - that's what a properly functioning system looks like. No gaps, no loose fittings, no heads sitting crooked.
An in-floor system that isn't working is basically just an expensive decoration. Getting it back to full function means less manual vacuuming, better water circulation, and a cleaner pool overall. We do this kind of repair regularly and know exactly what to look for when a system isn't performing the way it should.
