Dirty filters are one of those things that sneak up on you. The pool might still look okay on the surface, but behind the scenes your pump is working overtime trying to push water through clogged filter media. That extra strain adds up - on your equipment, your energy bill, and eventually your wallet.
This was a four-cartridge system out in Peoria. The before state tells the whole story. The pleated media was packed with debris, algae buildup, and grime that had been collecting over time. That kind of restriction doesn't just slow down filtration - it throws off your whole system's balance.
We pulled all four cartridges and ran them through a thorough filter cleaning. Each one got a solid rinse-down to flush out the trapped debris from between the pleats. This is where cutting corners shows - if you don't work the entire surface of the media, you're just moving the problem around. We don't do that.
The difference after a proper cartridge filter cleaning is real. Water clarity improves, flow rates come back up, and your pump isn't fighting against a wall of buildup anymore. Regular filter cleaning is one of the simplest things you can do to extend the life of your equipment and keep your pool looking the way it should.
If your pool has been running sluggish or the water just hasn't been as clear as you'd like, the filter is usually the first place to look. Staying on a consistent cleaning schedule makes a bigger difference than most people realize.
